Here's the next comic. It's basically everyone except Jordie talking out their future plans in the hotel room. Click this to go to the archives: Click here!Click this to vote for the comic: Click here too.

Well that's cool, they can just get Emily to do that thing with the ghost mounts and- oh right, she died. Random encounters ahoy!

Hopefully it's not the Forest of Inexplicable Fiery Death, where trees can and often do explode in 20d6 fireballs.

Does a ring like that need to be recharged every day with new spells? If so, that would use up some of the team's spell slots essentially, right?

No, the spells stay in the ring until discharged, so whoever has spells free at the time can just chuck them into the ring. Once the spell is used, it's gone though. Someone else can just stick 3 levels of magic (and it doesn't matter what kind) into the ring and it's ready to go again.

(I'm assuming low level stuff) Otherwise doesn't this seem like an OP item? Its like a wizard in ring form, (baeful polymorph?) Forgive any ignorace, never played D@D.

HonestMistake, you misunderstand. Three levels of magic means a single third level spell, a second and first level spell, or three first level spells. I think one can also replace any first level spell with two cantrips/orisons. So, it's useful, but you can't throw around very many spells and none will be particularly high level.

Naomi Li's correct on how the spells work in the ring. There are better versions of this ring which can hold more magical spells though, but those rings are even more expensive than the one Lenny's using.

Oddly enough, my first thought on reading panel nine was, "Smooth, Rocky." After all, he has at least a 5% chance of success with pretty much anything, so stealing rings of people's fingers? Relatively reasonable.

Natural 20's typically do not auto-succeed skill checks. Sleight of Hand is trained only and suffers from armor check penalty. House rules may take precedence though. Though with good enough rolls, you can do all kinds of fun stuff. I want to steal his pants!
