Did Grottor? use the withdraw action to get away, the run action to get further, or just a simple double-move action at a hustle? If it was the withdraw action... how long of a reach does this creature HAVE?
Also, not certain Angelica was thinking the same thing as Maclain. I'm thinking his plan was closer to "make sure it cannot harm other people by killing it", unless it actually is so powerful that such would be exceptionally risky.
Also, I do think there's a decent chance that the tent itself is not a creature but there's someone casting enchantment and illusion spells to mess with them. Especially since that AoO missed.

Also, I do think there's a decent chance that the tent itself is not a creature but there's someone casting enchantment and illusion spells to mess with them. Especially since that AoO missed. Since it's a huge creature with very long arms, the reach is 15 feet. Withdrawing won't get you as far from the creature as a flat out run away from it. Good thing Grottor's got the mobility feat, because that Circadae has a pretty good melee attack...and it's very damaging when it hits. However, aside from piping out that horrible circus music that draws people to it, it doesn't seem to have a ranged attack so being far away from it could help them if they're planning on attacking it with spells such as Fireball and the like. Unfortunately, it is indeed a creature and it does intend on fighting at least the stuffy Justice crew.

I wonder why that elf would have had this stored away? There's a chance Daytranna didn't know what the tent really was. The only knowledge skill crucial to a wizard would be for Arcana, and Religion or The Planes go into Outsiders in a lot greater detail than Arcana does (at least in Manjulias.) The other reason could be that he didn't care. He may desire to defend his town from the Angelo Kids, but that doesn't mean he's above selling something dubious to a girl he was indifferent towards.

Now I'm wondering what else Daytranna has living in his shop. And if this happens often for him. I feel like we need a cut away to him or something....

And the crew have been sleeping inside that thing for how long now? Quite awhile now. I'm certain the tent stayed dormant simply because no one let the cat out of the bag on what it really was.

That's the only reason why? Not because the crew that was sleeping inside has a chaotic (or at most neutral) alignment? Also I just noticed that Harvey got added to the ranks of a PC. This does not bode well for Grottor or Magotto...

This does not bode well for Grottor or Magotto... The fact no one in Julie's group was lawful definitely helps. We can't say that now with Harvey added to the PC lineup. Harvey was added to the PC lineup because he has actively joined Julie's group for what I believe will be a long time. I can say without spoiling anything that this party split is going to be a story arc that spans this volume as well as the next.
