Yup, we've got another next-day update. Umbria and her crew are surveying the wreckage, and Jason and Trevoricus are checking for any lingering Elvish hostiles. Kergak found himself a shield which is apparently magical, despite not being a masterfully crafted item. Umbria's a tiny bit unnerved by this, but she lets the Dwarf keep the shield anyway, as it's apparently better than the one he has already. Why wouldn't Umbria take the shield if she were Kergak? It's magical!

I can think of a few ways to have a seemingly non-masterwork shield be magical. The worst case (probable) scenario (for Kergak) would probably be it be cursed.

The shield is totally cursed.

Nevermind, it's a Souballo shield.
For starters, it's a Silverfronds shield. In a melee, we wouldn't want allies to mistake him for a enemy.
And yeah, it definitely could be cursed.

It came off one of the dead soldiers. What kind of army equips its men with cursed equipment?

An evil army, of course. Shields of Missile Attraction keeps arrows away from the rest of the troops you know.

Perhaps the shield isn't cursed. Maybe it's just had Magic Aura cast on it. Maybe one of the Empire's soldiers wanted to impress that special someone with his magic shield.
What does everyone else think is going on with the shield? There seems to be a lot of votes for cursed item. If you think so, what do you think the curse is?

Truth to be told, it was about time the characters bumped into a cursed item. In an actual D&D game, the dungeon master would have already screwed them for using magical items without properly identifying their powers first.
Of course, in a team lacking a wizard, the DM may choose to be lenient...but Umbria's team has one, so they have no excuses.
