I've got the next comic up. Between work and Project MLG I've had a bit less time than usual... Anyway, we're checking up on the progress of Umbria, Jason, Jane, Trevoricus and Kergak. It seems Umbria's inflicting her brand of hellish training on Kergak so he can gain a few levels and actually become useful to their adventuring group. We see him fighting a Dire Wolverine, probably the latest in a growing list of large forest animals he's had to kill for Umbria's amusement. That was a grizzly fight. I can tell he bearly survived. Oh, wait. It's a wolverine. There go two more horrible puns. I'm not sure whether to be relieved or annoyed about that.
I'm really looking forward to seeing this dwarf develop further. Something tells me he's either gonna die very soon or become very important.

Not to mention he has snazzy hat. But some of us have to get our crunch on. What class is he leveling in? Fighter or Barbarian? He has warrior levels before this training right?

I imagine fighter, since they already have a barbarian, but then again, the end of that fight was more barbarian-ish.
Also, I just realized that the last line was spoken by someone in the service of an empire that believes that humans are the best race and should rule over all. I guess that Umbria isn't quite as that into the whole thing as she appeared (although, to be fair, the only evidence we had that she was was the fact that she really enjoyed fighting their battles, and she's kind of an assassin).

Umbria used to be Zaedalkaah, a male Tiefling assassin for the Order Of Silence. Thanks to a convoluted prison sentence with the Everwood justice system, she was de-powered and sealed within a magical wand. That wand was blindly activated by Julie, and Umbria ended up taking Julie's class levels and appearance. (This was way, way back in the first book.) Umbria was never into either the Souballo Empire nor the Angelo's Kids. She doesn't have any particular prejudice against the Elves, nor does she believe Angelo is in any way a demigod. The only reason she joined (and browbeaten her 'friends' to join) was because she knew being in the Empire meant having to fight. She likes fighting, and believes the easiest and quickest way to regain her lost powers and abilities is to work for them. As we're coming to see, joining the Empire was a bit short-sighted, as she's essentially locked into what she's doing now.
