He had two prepared because he was planning on coming back. Thanks Rogonandi! Oh, that makes sense. Teleport out if everything goes wrong, Teleport back in with metric buttloads of help. After all, Harvey is LG, so he wouldn't just ditch them. Plus there's the Pendant to take care of.

He had two prepared because he was planning on coming back. Thanks Rogonandi! That, or getting twice as far away. It is true that he only has one other level 5 spell, since he just entered his level 9th character level. The other one he has is 'Break Enchantment' as he stated before. It's also Abjuration so he gets to prep it for free as he's an Abjurer.

Still don't think Harvey would just ditch them, though.

Is there a houserule making the teleport spell more reliable? After all, unless they want to stick to Line of Sight I'm pretty sure "viewed once" is the best they can get as far as teleportation targets go. (Granted, it matters most when it comes to returning to the rest of the group, and he could take the time to study the campsight thoroughly, but even then the odds of getting there accurately are only 94% IIRC)

The chances of success would be higher with an interesting area because Harvey studied the area better. Then when Julie uses the pendant, they could warp back to the Milo's secure shelter as he would study this area pretty carefully as well. The newest house they're using as the shelter has a decidedly interesting appearance after all. But this plan isn't totally foolproof...it could still go as awry as an off-target teleport arrival would for them.

A six-percent chance of it going off-target is about once in fifteen tries, so it's pretty unlikely to happen. We're not saying it's one in a million chance of happening either. Unless it serves the plot, in which case it's definitely going to happen.

Hopefully it won't warp Julie and Harvey into a nest of deinonychus.
