I've got another comic completed, and this one shows the Imperial Crew making their way up the stairs to the battle...except it's taking an awfully long time. Eventually it dawns on them that they might have been suckered into a trap from the castle. Click here to go to the comic's archives: Click!Click here to vote for the comic: Click!

Well that's certainly quite the twist.

Well that's certainly quite the twist. Did Melchior honestly believe the castle was really going to betray the Silverfronds King?

Bwahahaha! Hopefully they don't have Plane Shift prepared. Though even if they do have that AND the required teleportation spell to get back to the actual battleground they have lost a fair amount of time.

How's it Melchior's fault? He didn't plane shift them?

What is Angelo doing in panel 2? Making a will save, casting something like Resurgence or just be sparkly and awesome? Tiltowait it's Melchior's fault because he was in front. At least that's why I'd blame him. Also, Paula strikes me as the type of girlfriend that will get upset if the towels are not hung up "just right".

How's it Melchior's fault? He didn't plane shift them? He didn't planeshift them. That ability only works on himself and 50 lbs of gear...What ended up happening was that due to false information he received from the castle, he managed to unwittingly lure the majority of the powerful imperials into a trap set by the castle itself. The trap they fell into also included a Suggestion spell targeting all of those who fell under it to keep going up the stairs for the duration of the spell. The spell did not beat Angelo's spell resistance, though it did beat Paula's (spell resistance Cleric Spell) and Janice's (Robe of the Archmagi.) Those unlucky enough to fall under the spell would keep climbing the stairs until either they make their saves (which they would have to make again at some point) or die from eventual starvation or exhaustion from repeatedly climbing those damned stairs. It's not a terribly high save for high-level characters like the Souballo Squad to make, but Ron failed his. The Chiggler(s?) is/are just there to further troll those who fell into this trap.
