I've got a comic update. Sorry about the lateness, but I've been working a lot at my day job lately. The few extra dollars are nice, considering we have some holiday bills and errands that're gonna eat the money up. In any case, the Pandorino gives Julie and her group their reward. It's a pointy, scary looking statue made of platinum, iron and lead...and he gives it to Rocky by cheerfully impaling him with one of its spines. Don't worry, Julie will be able to heal Rocky, but the size of it makes it a bit too unwieldy for the Bag of Holding. This leads Lenny to making a somewhat thoughtless wish, which the puppy's going to be granting immediately! Click this to go to the comic archives: Click!Click this to vote for the new comic: Click!

Why do I suspect that the LWP is going to take their platinum away so they don't have to carry it?

You think they'd be more wary of using the w-word. So many ways that can go horribly wrong. And that needlessly antagonizing people is a stupid move. Doubt they'll ever pick up on that one. Was the chest always going to give them their money in that form, or did he deliberately pick one of the most frustrating possibilities because they were jerks? Also wondering how long it will take for Mr. Lawful to figure out what the quest is. The party really isn't very good at hiding it.

Ha! I had wondered how the limited wish was going to be exhausted without unbalancing the campaign.
Also: Dropping the name of the comic into the comic. Sweetness!
The statue head is just a DM's way of giving a lot of money to the players but making them work for it at the same time. There's a LOT of platinum in there, but they might have to take it to a dwarf fortress to get it smelted properly. Not to mention to find a buyer for that much metal all at once.

Lenny, on no you di'int. Enjoy being in the dog house tonight.
Though if they actually keep the LWP, what's something good to use it on? Teleporting to be near the next dungeon means they skip all the XP.

So, they get the LWP even though it was only on the corners? Does that count as lining up the stars?

As long as it's the same line (bottom horizontal in this case) they got 2 stars out of three. Ah, I thought they actually had to be touching. So what would happen if they pulled the lever and all nine squares were "Fight the Pandorino"? Would Quizma just reach through the chest and personally slap them? Or would it be the mother of all Pandorino?

Or would it be the mother of all Pandorino? If you line up all nine squares of Pandorino, I sincerely hope you've saved before attempting to open the chest. Even lining up three faces makes for an extremely dangerous combat encounter.

Even lining up three faces makes for an extremely dangerous combat encounter. There's a one out of six chance of getting the Monster, but for all nine squares, the odds are 1 in 10,077,696. (I think. I didn't study statistics at university.) So the fight would have to be suitably epic (in both meanings.)

If you're that unlucky, then having the Lady of Fate and Fortune reach through the chest to slap you seems like an appropriate start to an encounter.
