I've got a comic completed, and in it the group was attacked five times by monsters. They levelled up though, so at least there's that. Click here to go to the comic's archives: Click!Click here to vote for the webcomic: Click!

Ha! Sometimes the random encounter table's on your side, sometimes it ain't. They could be a bit more excited about having a level-up for a nightcap though! ok so what are those disembodied head thingys that caused them to bleed from the ears? Probably vargouilles. Hopefully none of the party got kissed by one: that's how they reproduce.

I thought vargouilles too, but I can't see any bat wings where the ears are, so I gave that up.

The things that attacked them at night are called "Screamers." I'll give the statistical info on them here:
Screamer: CR 5; Small Aberration ; HD 5d8+5 (Aberration) ; hp 27; Init +7; Spd Fly, Good 30; AC:19 (Flatfooted:16 Touch:17); Atk +2 base melee, +7 base ranged; SA: Destructive Harmonics (Su) , Shriek (Ex) ; SQ: Flight (Su), Aversion to Daylight (Ex), Cannot be Tripped (Ex), Damage Reduction (Su): 5/Magic, Immunity: Sonic (Ex), Madness (Ex), Darkvision (Ex): 120 ft., Immunity: Mind-Affecting Attacks (Ex); AL CE; SV Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +7; STR 6, DEX 16, CON 13, INT 10, WIS 10, CHA 17. Skills: Hide +11, Listen +10, Move Silently +7, Spot +6, Survival +4. Feats: Alertness, Improved Initiative.
Description: A Screamer is a grotesque floating head, with needle-like teeth and piercing green eyes. They are about a foot and a half in size, roughly as wide as they are tall and weigh about 20 lbs.
Combat: A Screamer flys about until it spots a creature who isn't a screamer. When it does, it begins the combat with its shriek ability.
Special Attacks:
DESTRUCTIVE HARMONICS: The screamer attacks by shrieking. All non-screamers within 40 feet of it must make a DC 15 fortitude save or take 2d6+3 sonic damage. A successful fort save halves this damage inflicted. Creatures lacking the ability to hear are not affected by this attack. The save DC and extra damage is charisma based.
SHRIEK: Upon seeing any creatures which aren't Screamers, it lets loose a powerful shriek. All non-screamers who can see the screamer and hear its shrieking must make a DC 15 will save or be shaken for the duration of its shrieking and for 5 rounds after it stops or leaves the sight of the creature. Those who succeed their will saves must save again for each round it continues shrieking, or if it begins shrieking this way again. This attack is a sonic, mind-affecting fear attack.
Special Qualities:
CANNOT BE TRIPPED: Due to its flight ability and that it's just a floating head, it cannot be tripped.
FLIGHT: A Screamer can cease or resume flight as a free action.
IMMUNITIES: Due to its biology a Screamer is immune to sonic attacks. Due to its constant insanity, it is immune to mind effecting attacks.
MADNESS: A Screamer uses its charisma modifier on will saves instead of its constitution.
AVERSION TO DAYLIGHT: Screamers hate natural light and flee from it. If forced to be in sunlight, they take a -2 morale penalty to their attacks, rolls and saves and must do everything they can to make their way underground or otherwise completely sheltered from the sun.

I did get some readership, but I decided to just post general safe for work art there now. There are the floating heads! I was eagerly awaiting their appearance Ah right. I do believe there is a picture of them in the forum where I was reporting about various game updates.

They're all getting so powerful!! They all get a feat, Julie can Inspire Greatness, Rocky does half a fireballs worth of damage withe each sneak attack, Jordie can shuffle people BACK ON to this mortal coil, and Lenny has an increased chance oh hitting things.

Lenny's probably the one who gained the least when levelling. He's got 7 levels of fighter now, but you only get a Fighter Feat every even level past level 2.

Did Julie and Rocky get level-drained by the wights? their hair looks gray in the subsequent panels. If so, thats 3 Restorations Jordie needs to prep.
